The Earliest Late Show

DJ Woke Foolishness brings you brand new tunes from across the alternative spectrum. Music with that fresh out the box smell- painstakingly and lovingly collected across the latest month spanning many genres from alt pop to post punk, Electro to hip hop, if it is new, got poetry in it’s soul and not cookie cutter made for profit mainstream slop then expect to hear all (well… most) of the latest releases.

From a Basement on the Hill

Hi, Im James Hudson and I will be playing anything from Robert Johnson to Aphex Twin. I’m going to talk about the music I love, how I found it, the story behind the music and what it means to me. I want my audience to be everyone, anyone who loves great music. I want to make a connection with people through music and maybe introduce them to a song that they haven’t experienced before. I want people to be moved, excited and feel a wide range of emotions. I hope people can build memories with me providing the soundtrack.

A traveller linguist, singer/songwriter, philosopher and photographer from Transylvania. Playing music that heals the soul and makes one a bit more aware about mental health issues. All this seasoned with friendly interviews with local artists regardless of how known or unknown they are. Live acoustic sessions. Live video streaming. I wish to make you feel connected, elevated and more aware.

White Russian for Breakfast

I present an eclectic mix of music and comment, often with a guest or two. I will also play new electronic music from local producers. I’m a prominent member of the relatively new Exeter House & Techno community, and will draw attention to news and events relating to that.

The Murzi Show

If you love hip hop, then the Murzi Show brings you a mad mix of hip hop from the UK and beyond, along with some reggae, funk and anything in-between.

The Morning After

Will & McLeod play a mix of well-known and obscure funk, dance, indie, soul, ‘hits’ and even jazz, sprinkled with chat about their (often contrasting) music playlists.

ECLECTIC AVENUE + HIP HOP TIME MACHINE

A four-hour show in two halves. The first two-hours is ECELCTIC AVENUE, a real mix of all things old, new, unreleased in genres as disparate as the stars, such as: funk, jazz, nu-jazz, soul, hip hop, house, folk, singer-songwriter, indie, alt-rock, 80s synth pop, pop music, rockabilly, reggae, dub and more… The second hour is dedicated to Hip Hop and Electro from the 1980s (the lense being 1979-1992). I want to focus on the eras of Hip Hop that forged the styles we have today, the unfashionable eras, the one-hit wonders, the origins of todays titans, as well as putting these early rap tracks in the context of early house music, and other genres which splintered out.

Ungrateful Colonist Radio Hour

Presented by Tim Myers, a self-described music nerd and recent American arrival in the UK. On the show, Tim details an American’s experience in the UK and exorcises his immigrant homesickness with deep explorations of the music of various American scenes and other current and former members of the commonwealth. With a characteristically punk rock and DIY attitude, Tim channels the American settlers who came before him, creating a soundtrack for those livid over stamp taxes, ready to dump imported tea into harbors.

With Andy Sinclair. I play funk and soul primarily, but also some jazz, acid jazz, house and reggae as the mood suits. Basically, anything with a groove.

Yan’s Bangers

Presented by myself, it’s a light-hearted trip in the DeLorean through the 80s and 90s, picking only the best (and sometimes worst) music that the two decades had to offer. With a different featured album every time, I talk about the bands, the history of the tracks, and any fun facts that spring to mind. Full of nostalgia, I also cover the most horrific tracks from that time in my “Maximum Cheese” section. I also have a trivia quiz based on popular culture from the 80s and 90s. Anyone who loves a giggle and holds giant shoulder pads in their memory with fondness will love it. The aim? To leave people wanting to rush out, buy a Soda Stream, a Sinclair C-5 and a Remington Fuzz-away, and dig out their neon leg-warmers.
