The Electro Vaults Show
First Thursday of each month
Hosted by Stephen Carr, this monthly show explores a wide spectrum of electronic music. From the synth-pop and electro classics of the 1980s through to 90s house, rave and progressive tracks, and into modern electronica and the underground club scene.
Expect iconic remixes, extended 12″ versions, cult favourites and hidden gems spanning more than four decades of dance and electronic music culture.
What brought you to Phonic FM?
I was introduced to the station by former presenter John Stammers. My own radio journey began in the mid-1980s when I volunteered at BBC Radio Devon before later working in the BBC Radio 1 music library in London. Now that I’m back in Exeter, presenting on Phonic FM feels like the circle has finally come full circle nearly forty years later.
What does Phonic FM mean to you?
It’s the freedom to share the music I love and hopefully introduce listeners to something new along the way.
What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?
I can be found volunteering at the Phoenix Arts Centre either in Studio 74, a dedicated independent cinema or stewarding events in the auditorium.
How do radio presenters do it?
With a good set of headphones.
