Thank you.

Phonic FM is Exeter’s sound alternative — a community radio station for the city and beyond, broadcasting on 106.8FM and online since 2008.

DJ Peachy and guests play lots of new music from Exeter and beyond. Touring acts and up-and-coming locals with a Q&A session on the phone when we can’t get someone in to the studio.

What brought you to Phonic FM?

St David’s Hill residents wanted to be part of Phonic FM. 20 people signed up initially. Peachy keeps the show going, even though he’s now a Pennsylvania cousin.

What does Phonic FM mean to you?

Broadcasting content that is popular and relevant to a local audience, often overlooked by commercial and mass-media broadcasters.

What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?

My job is very boring, I’m an office clerk.

How do radio presenters do it?

“You’ll never be a deejay as long as you live. You just haven’t got the personality for it. I’ll show you out!”

—Producer Eggy Lance, Radio Luxembourg, to Peter Dee
