Exeter’s Vanished Rock Venues
This started as a programme about Exeter’s lost venues, but has evolved … It often features interviews with local musicians about their work and influences. In between, Steve plays all kinds of stuff, including local bands, psych, folk, blues, punk, rock, goth, prog, & freakbeat – And he highlights new releases and upcoming gigs.
What brought you to Phonic FM?
The show was originally a podcast, which I developed into an exhibition for Art Week Exeter. I had some great discussions with people attending the exhibition and thought that radio would be a good way to share our musical interests more widely.
What does Phonic FM mean to you?
It’s important that Phonic FM provides alternative programming compared with other stations – especially the BBC – and that it serves the local community.
What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?
I’m an artist/curator/musician, and trustee for the TAAG gallery in Teignmouth. I also present Between the Buttons on Phonic FM and its Totnesian cousin, Strange Daze on Soundart Radio, where I’m a director.
