Restless

Restless

Restless is two hours of wild, raw and trashy tunes from the 50s and 60s brought to you by Syke. Expect garage, rockabilly, R&B, soul, freakbeat, surf, doowop, lounge and a whole bunch of genre-defying crazy stuff.

The kind of 50s and 60s music I play was designed for jukeboxes, so most tunes are around two minutes long. In a typical show I play over 50 different tracks. So between shows I’m always on the lookout for new tunes – listening to internet stations, checking out new releases and rooting around in record shops. And with so many tunes in the show, I always make sure I’ve nailed the playlist before I get into the studio.

What brought you to Phonic FM?

I was DJ’ing at my housewarming party when one of my neighbours who was involved in the Vibraphonic festival said I should give radio a go. I loved it from the first show and have never looked back.

What does Phonic FM mean to you?

I love Phonic FM: whatever the show, the genre, the format, you can guarantee that the presenter is passionate about what they do.

What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?

That would be telling.
