Part one of this series of interviews from Beautiful Days features the 3 daft Monkeys, The Alarm and The Last Republic. And there is plenty more to follow later this week with Don Letts, Mark Chadwick and The Wurzels to name but a few.
Mike Peters from The Alarm caught up with Phonic FM as he geared up for The Alarm’s slot on the main stage on Saturday evening. Mike, the only member left of the original line up, has suffered two near fatal brushes with cancer which have lent the band a new vigour. The Alarm bring their guitar-lead anthemic rock to the disenfranchised and disinfected. The Alarm raise their voices in a stand for what’s positive in a world or war and economic meltdown.

Previewing songs from their new album the Antiquated & The Arcane the 3 Daft Monkeys burst onto the Beautiful Days’ second stage with a carnival of sound. Their stage show gave all that it promised, huge sing-along vocals and frenetic fiddles leading to a cornucopia of glorious summer time energy. An appreciative and bouncy audience crammed into the Big Top as the Monkeys gave their first evening performance at Beautiful Days.
Welsh rock band The Last Republic are awaiting the release of their first album The powerful four-piece supported the Levellers last April and are tipped as one to watch.
They recently supported Bon Jovi after beating 900 other acts to the prize in a Kerrang! Radio competition. They won on the strength of their huge potential and talent for grand guitar riffs, beautiful soaring melodies and outlaw attitude. They formed in 2008 from the wreckage of previous acts. The band appeared on the main stage on saturday afternoon.
