Exeter will be one of 28 cities taking part in Oxjam in October and your help is needed to make the Exeter event the best in the country.
Oxjam is one of the UK’s largest music events with hundreds of venues across the country taking part.
Running throughout October and culminating in a main event on the 25th , this is a festival with a difference.
It will focus on the promotion and collaboration of local talent and businesses to get involved with Oxfam’s Climate Change campaign.
Organised by a group of music loving local folk, the Exeter based events are targeted towards incorporating an eclectic mix of genres and hopefully offering something for everyone. From a lone busker to big club nights, this is about celebrating what Exeter has to offer and how it can play a part in understanding Climate Change and its effects.
Oxjam is running alongside Oxfam’s ‘Here and Now’ campaign, asking world leaders to take responsibility for their part in climate change.
The more developed countries of the world know all too well the causes behind climate change, but we the public are relatively unaware and it is us and our future generations who will have to live with the devastating effects of extreme droughts and flooding, currently being experienced by those in poorer countries.
The ‘Here and Now’ campaign is asking world leaders to acknowledge their responsibilities to these suffering countries at the Copenhagen Summit in December 2009.
