The Simmertones + The Embezzlers live, 27 January 2018

The Simmertones + The Embezzlers + Datura, Exeter Phoenix, Saturday 27 January, 8pm, £10

The Simmertones are a Torbay-based band playing authentic ska and reggae. With a very busy year of gigs behind them including Camp Bestival, Looe Festival, Glas-Denbury and Love Summer festival they are returning to Exeter Phoenix for a third year hoping to delight a packed house again.

The Embezzlers are an Exeter based ska and two-tone band who get crowds jumping all night long in local venues in the south-west, playing to packed houses wherever they go.

Datura are a Teignmouth-born roots fusion four piece who have been busy tearing up the south-west building a reputation for their energetic stage show and unique fusion of styles. Forged from many influences including roots reggae/ska and dub culture of Jamaica to the smokey blues of Chicago and flourishes of modern styles such as trip-hop, D&B and electro swing. Soulful vocals, blistering Sax all played with a verve and swagger and tied together with an irresistible groove guaranteed to get you moving!

This event has sold out over the last 2 years and surely will be one not to miss. It’s a fund raiser for Phonic FM, Exeter’s local alternative music station, which celebrates its tenth year on air in 2018.
