Quest has come of age – in it’s 18th Year!

Quest, Newton Abbot Racecourse, Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th July

Quest has come of age, and 2013 looks to be the very best yet.

With over 14 new aspects to enjoy, Quest has had a huge make-over broadening its platform to more embrace the eco and creative but still celebrating its roots as a well-being event, inviting you to explore a full range of personal growth modalities.

We’ve had lots of feedback about the TEN MEN evening – many women have expressed how touched they are about this, genuinely wanting to celebrate men who show up in their fullness; but also many men have expressed their gratitude for having a night like this, honouring them, honouring what it is to be a man!

QUEST opens on Thursday night with this amazing evening of Inspiring Men. Headlining TEN MEN is Coleman Barks – Rumi Expert from USA; also  Jamie Catto – Songwriter nominated for two Grammys in 2003 who has sold over 300,000 albums;  Ben Mellor – BBC Radio 4 National Poetry Slam; Tim Freke -Stand up Philosopher and Spiritual Pioneer; Dr Martin Shaw – mythologist, storyteller and award winning wilderness Rites-of-Passage guide; Chris Paradox – Poet whose leg was amputated “worst thing that ever happened to me, being the best thing that ever happened to me – a paradox” and many more.

This evening just sets the tone for the quality of national and international artists performing at Quest 2013. The four evenings also take us through a journey. First TEN MEN, followed by an evening of Earthly inspiration and the love of GAIA, headlining with the pulsing  eco heart of  Seize The Day, International Didjeridoo player and multi-instrumentalist Sika from NZ, beautiful and delicate Carrie Tree , the Naked Voice and Singing Soul Chloe Goodchild; then on Saturday night it’s an eruption of World Music with hair raising Balkan riot Sheelanagig  Gambian Kora Genius, Sura Susso, plus Japanese sublime and tender duo Kuri and more; then Sunday’s Brave New World – most of the acts this evening are in their 20’s, Energetic Wild Bluegrass from the Rainbow Girls touring from USA, and rising stars –  the contemporary Matthew & Me.

Besides the performances we have over 170 workshops – featuring One Giant Leap’s Jamie Catto; Stand up Philosopher Tim Freke; Space Clearing Karen Kingston; “Life Changing Conversations” Author Sarah Rozenthuler; Energy Master Jason Chan; Shamanic Dreamer Barbara Meiklejohn Free and many more.

Workshops range from angelic to shamanic, past lives to nutrition, silent or guided meditations to dynamic and the awesome AUM – releasing core emotions.

Creative workshops include dancing, singing, spoon carving, henna, circus skills, drumming, sound journeys, accessing your creative ideas like the Artist’s Way or with Grammy Award winning Jamie Catto on Thursday.

A feast for your body too – yoga, tai chi, body work, plus a whole sub-festival for conscious movement. DANCE QUEST is programmed by Deep Dive Dance Adam Griffin, featuring Jewels Wingfield Ecstatic Dance, Christian de Sousa dancingTao, Guy Barrington Biodanza, Reza Hamed Tantric Tango, Noel Perkins Contact improvisation, Julia Brightwell Biodanza and Denise Rowe African Dance.

We also have Eco workshops, with Suzy and Ley from Embercombe; Schumacher College’s Jonathan Dawson; plus together we are invited to build a Life Cairn with TV’s Cowboy Vicar Peter Owen Jones on the Village Green on Saturday. Bring a big rock to represent an endangered species.

So whether you are a day tripper or a happy camper we would love you to let us know what you think of THE NEW QUEST – has it come of age?
