Fame beckons for Devon teen singer songwriter

Devon Born Holly Morwenna , a 15 year old singer, songwriter, has made it through to the regional finals of the national Open Mic UK contest.

Holly will be competing in Fareham, Hampshire on 6th October, 2013 to gain a place in the national semi finals and is proud to be representing Devon. She is hoping she will get to perform in the finals which will be staged at the 02 arena later this year.

Holly has also presented on Phonic FM in the past with her father, Spitting Feathers/Phonic Screwdriver/Dad and Son Show, DJ, Lee Rawlings!

Her father Lee Rawlings says  “Holly has been singing all her life and has a passion that could see her fulfilling her dream. She has pure talent and when ‘in the zone’ is mesmerising to listen to and watch. I am very proud!”

Her mum, Pik Rawlings, says “Holly Morwenna discovered her singing voice at the age of 3 and we were so suprised at her perfect pitch even as a toddler. Since then, there has been no stopping her. She was born to sing.”

Holly is hoping people from Devon will support her and help her achieve her ambitious goal of becoming a future recording artist.

“ It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, for as long as I can remember, to be a professional recording artist. I remember making songs up when I was four years old with my little brother, when were on holiday in Scotland. That was when I knew I wanted to be a singer.”

Rupert McDonald, Holly Morwenna’s guitar teacher from Exeter’s Academy of Music & Sound, says she is “a really exciting young artist. Genuine songs and genuine talent. Holly’s voice and musicianship are extremely advanced for one so young.”

Holly’sYoutube channels have gained nearly half a million views. All over the country, a 1000 subscribers have clicked to watch her perform. Live around Devon. She is also a familiar sight on the high streets performing and busking her original tunes with her acoustic guitar.
