Idiot Child Theatre, I Could have been Better, Exeter Bike Shed Theatre

This one man play performed by Jimmy Whiteaker starts off in great humour, describing the simple life of a train signal man and avid learner swimmer.
Along with his penpal, (swimmer Duncan Goodhew) and lover (his friends mum, who is actually his friends Dad) he describes in hilarious detail how he fell in love with his friends dad (at first described as a bearded mum) and how he loves learning to swim in his local swimming baths.
With a dose of audience participation, and some superb acting and some very innovative scenes the play is highly entertaining throughout.
With the use of video and some great little props, the story turns rather tragic and sad, giving the play a fascinating slide from comic to bizarre to tragic.
A brilliantly strange rollercoaster of a play with well conceived scenes and heart warming tragedy.
Excellent stuff.
