World class guitarist John Etheridge speaks to Paul Gallagher on Phonic

Master guitarist John Etheridge came into the Phonic FM studios to be interviewed about his wide-ranging musical career by Paul Gallagher on his regular show Your Mother Might Like It.

The interview, which contains music featuring John’s outstanding guitar-playing and selected by John himself, will be first broadcast on Wednesday 9th November 2011.

John Etheridge rightly enjoys a glowing reputation throughout the music world and he has been described by Pat Metheny as ‘one of the best guitarists in the world’.

John modestly plays down that image but admits that playing with fellow guitarist John Williams is an acknowledgment of his skills.

John has played with many other top musicians including Nigel Kennedy, Yehudi Menuhin, and Stephane Grappelli to name but a few. John’s work encompasses many genres of music, both on the electric and on acoustic guitar, using a pick or finger-style.

John very kindly agreed to be interviewed by Paul in the Phonic FM studio whilst he was down in the  Exeter area recently performing at some  gigs.

In order to showcase examples of  John’s work, Paul plays some tracks within the interview, which commences with John discussing his involvement, both originally and currently, with the legendary
jazz-rock (fusion) group The Soft Machine.

Tune in for a chance to hear John chat about his interesting career.
