A talk by sculptor Bill Woodrow, The Drew Arms, Drewsteignron, Friday 29th July, 8pm
Dartmoor Arts Project is pleased to announce that renowned British Sculptor Bill Woodrow is giving a talk as part of our week long programme of evening events.
Bill emerged in the late 1970s and is well known for his works made from materials found in dumps, used car lots and scrap yards and large consumer goods such as refrigerators.
Bill Woodrow studied at Winchester School of Arts, St. Martin’s School of Art, and Chelsea School of Art.
His first solo exhibition was at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1972 and since then he has shown his work all over the world.
In the early 1980s he represented Britain at Biennales in Sydney, Paris and Sao Paulo and in 1986 he was a finalist in the Turner Prize at the Tate Gallery, London.
Further solo exhibitions of his work were held at the Camden Arts Centre (1995), the Tate Gallery (1996) and the South London Gallery (2001).
Bill’s work is held in public collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden, and the Tate Gallery in London.
