Exeter University Theatre Company (EUTCo) presents Kes by Lawrence Till. Based on Barry Hine’s novel A Kestrel For A Knave and Ken Loach’s 1969 film Kes , it follows the story of Billy Casper, a troubled young boy growing up in a community that cannot understand him.
Bullied both at home and school, Billy’s only solace is his pet kestrel, Kes, on which he lavishes all the attention and affection he has never known. Showcasing some of the finest talent Exeter University has to offer, Kes is an epic, haunting tale about a struggling community and the spirit of youth.
EUTCo’s annual production at the Exeter Northcott has been exceedingly popular in the past and this year is set to be no exception. Boasting a fantastically talented cast, “Kes” will offer you an evening of laughs, tears and Yorkshire accents.
Director, Charlie O’Reardon said: “the audience are able to relate to the relevance of Billy Casper’s struggle through the highly visual and ensemble feel that the show evokes”.
