Hayseed Dixie play bluegrass/hill-billie rock style cover versions of hard rock classics by bands such as AC/DC, as well as their own original material.
The band sold over 200,000 copies of their first album A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC (2001) worldwide, and appeared on every major morning radio show in the US and Australia. Subsequent albums have been even more successful, including the 2008 release No Covers .
The band’s name is a play on the name AC/DC and was originally AC/Dixie, but they were forced to change it.
Claiming to hail from the fictional Deer Lick Holler, Appalachia, the band has played nearly 1,000 live dates in 21 different countries since 2001, including Glastonbury and many other international festivals. Needless to say they’ve got dedicated followers all over the globe and are known to party as hard as they rock. In September 2005 they held their own festival Loopallu in Ullapool, Scotland, which has become an annual event.
