Walking down Gandy Street last Sunday I saw a sign advertising Artist in Residence outside the Paragon Gallery.
Feeling a bit brave in my Phonic FM T-shirt, I descended the stairs and had a chat with the artist in question, Tracy Whitbread , who had just started preparing a canvas for her latest piece.
Being a bit ignorant in such matters, it was fascinating and enlightening to speak to Tracy about her methods, motives and her inspirations.
As she says herself: “My approach is very organic and even though I have some idea of what I want to achieve, it all happens through the process of working in relationship with the materials on the canvas.
“I now feel that this is the only way I can achieve my truest expression – that of allowing the convergence of my inner landscapes with outer forms and my dialogue with the realms of Spirit and Form.”
So why not pop along to the Paragon Gallery on either Saturday 9th May or Sunday 10th May to discuss her art or simply to look and be amazed.
Tracy Whitbread is also exhibiting at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton from Saturday 9th May until 27th June 2009.
