The Snow Queen, Exeter Northcott, Tuesday 28th April to Thursday 30th April
Italy’s Teatro Kismet returns to the UK this Spring with their internationally acclaimed production: The Snow Queen.
Following the success of the show’s last UK tour in 2007 the return of this visually stunning adaptation of Andersen’s icy tale has been eagerly anticipated.
The Snow Queen is suitable for everyone aged 8 and upwards.
Celebrating over 200 years of Hans Christian Andersen, this English speaking production of The Snow Queen is a highly entertaining show and will enchant, excite and move children but has a sophistication in its use of symbolism, imagery and the poetic text which address the deeper meanings of the tale and allow adults to appreciate the work on another level.
The Snow Queen follows the heroic adventures of Gerda as she goes in search of her beloved friend Kay, whose heart is frozen when he is captured by the Snow Queen and taken to her icy palace at the ends of the earth.
The company employs a range of theatrical styles and techniques including aerial acrobatics, dance, martial arts, and bold caricature.
In its 25 year history, Teatro Kismet has become one of Europe’s leading practitioners of theatre for young audiences.
It has a reputation for a highly physical and visual style of theatre appealing both to children and adult audiences on different levels.
The show is at the Exeter Northcott Theatre from Tues 28 to Thurs 30 April. Tuesday and Wednesday 1pm & 7pm, Thursday 10am. Tickets are available from the box office on 01392 493493 or online at www.exeternorthcott.co.uk.
