Phonic FM has secured £5,000 of funding from Devon County Council.
The cash boost will be spent on finishing the Phonic FM’s training studio ahead of the launch of the Phonic FM skills programme.
Phonic FM Chairman, David Treharne, said: “This money is fantastic for Phonic FM. It means we can finish the training studio, which had been put on hold because of lack of funding. Once this studio is finished it will be a great asset to Phonic FM allowing us to begin rolling out our skills programme.
“As a community radio station we rely entirely on money from sponsors such as Devon County Council and this money will help us move towards meeting the future goals of the station.”
The Phonic FM training studio is earmarked for completion by the end of the year and will offer training in radio journalism, presentation and sound production in conjunction with Exeter College and the Exeter Phoenix media arts centre.
Devon County Council, Executive Member for Culture, Cllr Sheila Hobden, said: “This training studio will be a wonderful facility for the whole community.”
