The Revolutionary Radio Request Show

The Revolutionary Radio Request Show

With Frank and Jason. A request show, with each week’s theme suggested by a listener. The listeners get to choose the music that we play (although we get to choose the occasional track as well). Our only regular feature is ‘Zappa corner’.

Every six months we do a special which concentrates on one artist. We have done specials for Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin.

The show was conceived by Kye and Matt. They presented the show every week for five years before swapping to presenting fortnightly with Bod Black and Jake Harries presenting on the alternate weeks. They also had various other guest presenters during this time. Bod and Jake now present Back to Back on the alternate Sundays from us.

When Kye and Matt stepped down, Frank took over presenting duties with son Zackary and son Joshua producing. Zackary then stopped presenting to concentrate on his GCSEs and Frank’s friend Jason joined as a presenter.

Community radio at the heart of the city.

What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?

Frank is a social worker and archer. Jason works for the NHS. We both love going to gigs.

How do radio presenters do it?

Well, we panic and laugh at ourselves most of the time.
