The Last Transmission

The Last Transmission

Mark and Steve play the best new music, though we can’t resist throwing in some classic oldies. We like to have local musicians come into the studio to play live, and speak to national and international acts via the wonders of the telephone. Occasionally we like to set ourselves challenges such as playing all of John Peel’s Festive Fifty number ones in show, or filling two hours with only bands and artists with ‘black’ in their name. The fun literally never stops.

What brought you to Phonic FM?

The independent nature and community spirit of the station.

What does Phonic FM mean to you?

The freedom to play what we like without having to adhere to playlists or keep advertisers happy. Being able to give exposure to emerging artists and those that don’t get played on the wireless very much.

What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?

Trawl the internet for exciting new music. Then wait patiently until we can play it on the next show.

How do radio presenters do it?

With passion.
