Casual City Radio

Casual City Radio

Presented by Richard Trump (AKA Trumpy) playing all things punk, alternative, indie, 2tone, mod, new wave and ska. General jibber-jabber to do with local gigs, new groups, old songs and stories of the week! Listened to by frustrated 40–50-somethings, who still think they can pogo! (Although the kids are tuning in theses days too.) I like to think my audience are bouncing off the walls and free from the week’s turmoils, ready for the weekend!

What brought you to Phonic FM?

I’ve been jockin’ on the scooter scene for 25 years and doing support for live gigs for longer than I care to remember! I’m best buddy with Jim Semmens who does The Friday Modulation and Tom Yule of the Soul Show! Tom switched slots leaving the door open for me to have a go – the rest, as they say, is history.

What does Phonic FM mean to you?

Bringing pleasure to the loyal folks at home that tune in and interact with the show! Promoting events and spreading the love for community radio.

What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?

I manage a local scooter club in Exeter and have done for the last 15 years; I go to local gigs; I’m an avid collector of vinyl (northern soul, punk, indie); I frequently visit the gym; and I have four amazing kids and three adorable grandkids. The rest of my time is at my day job as a quantity surveyor.

How do radio presenters do it?

Loud and bouncing off the wall.
