Beats, Rhymes & Life Show with Big Trax & The Cooler King
The fourth & fifth Saturday of every month
We come with the ripe hypeness. Funk, soul, jazz, house, dance, 80s electro, old school hip hop, indie, film soundtracks and anything that’s sparked our interest since the last show. A bit of sample spotting and trainspottery too.
We have been ardent vinyl junkies since the 80s and there’s no stopping us. LPs, album cuts, neglected b-sides – it’s all here.
What brought you to Phonic FM?
We heard the call, we answered
What does Phonic FM mean to you?
The freedom to play non-playlisted tracks – to shine a spotlight on unfashionable groups and just dig for good tracks in the gloom of the nation’s record shops
What do you do when you’re not on Phonic FM?
Big Trax is an author and editor (Alan Edward Roberts), and The Cooler King is a record collecting vigilante
How do radio presenters do it?
We do it when the people say yes
