A seated set by Mirror System, followed by a dance set by System 7!
Join ex-Gong guitar legend Steve Hillage and long-standing partner Miquette Giraudy for a unique evening with two contrasting audio-visual performances.
Mirror System seated set
The first half of the evening a rare, seated performance by Mirror System, the downtempo and chillout project of System 7’s Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy. This set will open with an excerpt from the seminal album Rainbow Dome Musick, originally released by the pair back in 1979 which played a vital role in the development of the ambient music genre. The distinctive Mirror System sound is based on deep rolling grooves and the subtle blend of rich dreamy electronica and guitar. Their successful debut album was released in 2005 and now their style also incorporates a soft minimal tech-house element.
System 7 dance set
The auditorium seats will be removed for the second half of the evening when Steve and Miquette assume their System 7 incarnation. System 7 pioneered the use of electronic guitar in an electronic dance music context and continue to thrill audiences across the globe with their unique blend of electronic, beats and sample with live guitar riffs, solos and MIDI-interfaces.
Both sets will be accompanied by visuals in this special event in support of Exeter’s community radio station, Phonic FM.
Please note that the balcony seats will be in place all night so please book one of those if you wish to remain seated for the whole evening.
This is a fundraiser for community radio station Phonic FM.
