Phonic FM welcomes two new directors

Exeter Community Radio, which broadcasts as Phonic FM, welcomes two new directors to its board.

In June 2017, Helen Connole and Bernie Sloane joined David Treharne, Paul Giblin, Patrick Cunningham, DJ Peachy and John Wigzell on the board.

At the same time, long-serving director Pat Bensberg stepped down. Pat will continue broadcasting the Eccentric Selection on Monday lunchtimes. The remaining directors thank him for his immense contribution and wish him well.

Helen is host of The Eighties Time Machine with a particular taste for world electronica, Italo-disco and other obscure things. She says:

“Phonic FM makes Exeter a special place, giving us all so many interesting opportunities to explore.”

Helen will take on responsibility for membership and scheduling.

Bernie says:

“Having been a presenter in the days of Vibraphonic, l have been involved with the station in one way or another for more than ten years.  You will find me at most station fundraisers.

“My role for the station will include looking at income generation and development opportunities for the station.”

Phonic FM is Exeter’s ‘sound alternative’ – a community radio station for the city and beyond, broadcasting on 106.8FM in Exeter and online at phonic.fm. It is a largely self-funded membership organisation with around 80 people actively involved in any given month. In 2017, Phonic FM enters its tenth year of broadcasting.
