Congratulations Mike James: Pure Rawk DJ of the Year

Phonic FM's Mike James scooped the Pure Rawk DJ of the Year award.

Phonic FM's Mike James scooped the Pure Rawk DJ of the Year award.

A massive congratulations to Phonic FM’s Mike James who scooped the prestigious national DJ Of The Year Award at the 2013 Pure Rawk Awards held in London on last Friday at the celebrated Boston Music Room.

Mike, who has been presenting his Friday night Rock Show for more than five years, has had a lot of attention since winning the inaugural South West Music Award FM DJ of the year in 2011. The Mike James Rock Show has since been picked up by one of the biggest Rock stations in the UK, Bloodstock Radio, and in the last few month Mike has signed an exclusive deal with a station in the states.

Mike has said: “I am totally overwhelmed at winning this award as it was 100 per cent voted for by the people. When you see some of the talented DJs I was up against this truly is a flag in the ground for the west country rock scene.”

He added: “This award is dedicated to the amazing talent we have in this part of the country, without whom I could not do my show. It is their tunes and involvement that makes it what it is. I know from speaking to people around the UK that they tune is to listen to the local bands my show supports as well as the national and international stars I interview.”

Mike has a busy summer ahead of him now as he travels the UK festivals interviewing act’s and supporting and pushing the local bands to the national stage. He is also already well underway with plans for this years Halloween Zombie Ball and Walk which takes place on Saturday 26th October.
