Name: Paul Gallagher

Show: Your Mother Might Like It

When are you on? 12-00 Midday to 14:00 1st Wednesday of the month

What type of music can we expect to hear on your show?
Bands including The Doors, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Be Bop Deluxe, Weather Report, Brand X and artists including Joni Mitchell, Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Horace Silver and Dexter Gordon.

How did you get into this type of music?
I started to listen to late-night radio shows in the Seventies hosted by presenters such the late John Peel, Bob Harris, Alan Black and Anne Nightingale.

How long have you been DJing?
I have not been DJing very long at all, but do have links to the radio broadcasting industry.

How did you start DJing?
I started DJing on Phonic FM when I assisted a couple of established presenters.

Can we find you DJing anywhere other than on Phonic FM?
I don’t DJ anywhere other than Phonic FM at present, but I do keep abreast of radio in general and attend a variety of live gigs.

What has been your most embarrassing DJing moment?
When a unintentional (but still good!) track went to air.

What has been your best DJing moment?
Best DJing moment was simply activating the first music track on my first solo show on Phonic FM.

Who is your favourite artist? Why?
Not easy to give a definitive answer, but probably Pink Floyd. The band started out with the late masterful lyricist Syd (Roger Keith) Barrett.

What is your all time favourite album? Why?
Dark Side of the Moon. It was the first or second album that I bought and was well-composed and recorded: and simply good to listen to.

Where do you shop for music in Exeter? Why?
Specialist suppliers.
