Show Name: The Rock Show
Presenter: Mike James
Show Times and Day: Friday’s 10pm
What type of music can we expect to hear on your show:
Cutting edge Rock, Metal and guitar driven tunes from local, national and International acts alongside interviews with some of the biggest acts in the world and the best of the local scene often pop in to the studio to join me for a chat.
Why do you like this music:
It’s in my blood from birth.
What is the format of your show:
I like to get local acts in for the first half of the show to plug there sounds, gigs, news etc. The second half of the show is where I like to play any interviews I have done with big acts and there have been plenty and have loads more to come. Amongst all this I play fresh promo tracks alongside lots of local and regional acts and tunes we all know and love.
Why should we listen to your show:
Listening to the Rock Show is a must if you want to keep up to date with all things rock and metal, It’s the place to hear classic tunes with up to date hot releases along with interviews with some of the biggest acts in the world. In the past 12 months I have spoke to members of these acts for interviews played on the show: Gene Simmons, Dragonforce, Machine Head, Hatebred, Bleeding Through, Coheed and Cambria, Airborne, Trivium, Melissa Auf Dur Muir, Slash, Kid In Glass Houses, Taking Dawn, Pendulum, Grand Magus, Medina Lake to name a few and had these local acts in the studio with me Dancing With The Enemy, Cambion, We Are Forever, Raider, We The Divide, Monkey Funch and a loads of local acts that just come along on a Friday night and gate crash the show. Over the coming months the show will expand with big international acts I’ve interviewed being played every week and lots more local and regional acts popping in for a chat. To keep up to date with all that is going on including live events befriend the rock show on,
How do your show come about:
I was asked to do something rock like when the station went full time in 2008 and it has gone through many different styles and looks but in the last year it has really taken off.
What goes on behind the scenes in the studio:
Its bonkers, lots of chatting online to listeners via Facebook IM’s, silly antics with who ever is in the studio with me and of course it has to be as loud as it can be in the studio!!!
What has been your best on air moment:
It has to be the response from everyone after I played an interview I did with Slash it was crazy to know so many people had tuned in for that show.
What has been your worst/most embarrassing on air moment:
There are to many to mention that’s the joy of live radio, you never know what is going to happen but at least no one can see you go red well unless the person your interviewing makes it even worse and mentions it, You know who you are!!!!!
Who is your favorite artist/why:
I like to keep up to date and listen to a lot of fresh new acts but if I had to choose there are a few acts that never leave my MP3 Player like Slipknot, Linkin Park, Prodigy, The Doors and Iron Maiden.
What is your all time favorite album/why?
The Holy Bible by The Manic Street Preachers because it was my coming of age album and it totally kicks ass!!
